“Global Citizen” looks at work that explores a contemporary globalized society. The relationship between inherited culture and physical location poses new questions about the relationship to location and cultural identity. We explore work that looks at or emphasizes the human desire to inhabit, migrate, and create work beyond borders in both inclusive or restricted territories. What does it really mean to be a citizen? The transient nature of performance art, where the body is the medium, generally supports a more globalized society and artists often make work in response to their ever changing surroundings.
Andrei Venghiac’s work looks at the connection human’s share with nature and more specifically, our sense of power over it. Though we may genuinely desire to save the earth, our attempts at order and control may be merely an arrogant exercise in futility. Sujin Lim’s work highlights the interconnectedness of eastern and western cultures by planting an astonishing array of colorful, plastic flowers (made in China) on a lush European countryside, noting the ever-expanding interdependence of global economies. Jai Du’s work references the power of symbols that make up the collective unconscious. Her eroticized body becomes a backdrop for her philosophy on universal issues: the authoritarian nature of the world, beauty, religion and how governments thrive on perpetuating fear. Chongha Peter Lee’s work illustrates how the justice system objectifies and marginalizes defendants through formulaic questions based on superficial notions of identity. In “Dinero Negro”, Fermin obliterates a piece of paper money, calling into question what constitutes currency, exchange, debasement, and value. Similarly, Raul Rodriguez inadvertently addresses value in specific regard to food, a basic civil necessity. Climbing a staircase made of ‘Pan,’ has become a symbolic gesture articulating the intrinsic reliance on currency for food, and brings to light an economic crisis larger than Venezuela.

“Aktion”
Aktion aims to address the romantic idea of the tragic hero through moving image and performance with the camera as witness and companion. The slapstick quality of the video depicts the hero’s action that retains a distinctive gravity within the gaze of the camera. While the portrayal of the hero emphasizes his pointless attempts for a sublime experience, the visual identity of the work combined with the duality of humor and play supports the idea of manifest. Andrei VenghiacGothenburg, Sweden. Andrei has presented his work and participated in solo and group exhibitions throughout Romania, Moldova, Ireland, Belgium, Denmark, Sweden and USA. In 2015 he has been awarded the Theodor and Hanne Mannheimer Award, and the Eric Ericson Foundation Stipend. Furthermore, Andrei self-published his first book, Alexithymia, and Valand Academy has issued a monograph comprising his works from 2014 to 2015. In 2016, Andrei has been nominated for the Fredrik Roos Stipend from Moderna Museet in Malmö, Sweden, and opened his solo show Persona. “Black Money”
Black Money arises in a simple action such as destroying a €50 note with a permanent black marker, transforming it into a worthless piece of paper but with an enormous symbolic significance
Black Money is formalized with the destruction and record the serial numbers of the bills inked in the “action – performance” of the artist and the audience actively involved in the inking of the notes. The money used in the performances must be money obtained illegally or untaxed. 2015 00:01:58

“FACTORyAL LANDSCAPE”
FACTORyAL LANDSCAPE is consists of video documentation of site-specific installation and performance. The action is to plant 1200 pieces of plastic flowers made in China in the field near the mountain in the Alps. The Alps is known for its beautiful nature and landscapes, especially for many Asian people as one of the most famous tourist spots. This performance is motivated by traditional Buddhist ceremony in Asia to release captured animals to free them back to nature. 2014 00:04:16
Sujin Lim (South Korea/Germany)
Sujin LimSujin Lim was born in Seoul, Republic of Korea and currently works and lives in Seoul and Berlin. She creates site-specific interventions that relate to socio-political issues, and are accompanied by artistic research. She has had two solo exhibitions in Korea, and her works have been selected for the IV Moscow International Biennale for Young Art curated by David Elliott in Museum of Moscow (2014) and exhibitions including At the End of the World in the Marke 6. gallery at the Neues Museum in Germany (2012) and Storming Party in Art Museum in the Seoul Museum of Art(2009).

Chongha Peter Lee (USA)
Chongha Peter LeeChongha Peter Lee is currently based out of Syracuse, NY and Washington, D.C. He received his BFA at George Mason University in 2011. He’s shown video works in DJ Spooky’s Experimental Media Series. His new media intervention, “Barcode Orchestra” has been shown in several venues including the World Bank in Washington DC. Since 2010, He has been an integral member of the Floating Lab Collective, producing “The Collective White House” for the Museum of Antioquia’s MDE 11 Triennial in Medellin, Colombia and the “ReMuseum” for the 5×5 Public Art Project, Washington, DC’s first internationally curated public art initiative. Most recently, he has collaborated on the “Modular Engagement Transporter” which was exhibited in the Art Museum of the America’s. He is currently pursuing a degree in the Transmedia MFA program at Syracuse University, concentrating on the implications of post-digital impacts on labor, politics and media aesthetics.
“Well-formed breasts…coincidence?”
This video performance makes reference to the power of the symbols (archetypes), that at the same time are shapes and therefore, numbers. These symbols, as well explained C.G. Jung, have dominated our life since the beginning because they are part of our collective unconscious and have determined what is beautiful and good and what is ugly and bad. Thus, the religions and governments have used them throughout the history in order to create
resounding effects that manipulate the society. It means that strong or weird physical experiences can turn into aesthetic and pleasant experiences (images) just because they follow powerful and inherited patterns. 2015 00:05:22
Jai Du (Spain/Belgium)
Jai DuJai Du starts her professional career as a business consultant in 2000, mainly working for banks and government institutions where she spent more than 12 hours/day. In 2008, thanks to a tragic accident suffered in Africa, she realized about her life mission and decided to start communicating about the topics that nobody from her social/job sector would talk freely. Thus, she becomes an artist with a hidden identity under the alter ego of Jai Du. In her first works emerge topics such as the internal dependencies that the System’s rules produce. Currently, her work involves the concept of collective unconsciousness and the use of archetypes to activate specific emotions in the audience.
